How The Challenge 2021 works
Participants form teams to learn about a water-related problem in Arizona and then propose unique engineering strategies to address it. Student teams work from home as they conduct guided research alongside undergraduate mentors, then build prototypes and finally submit a recorded solution presentation for evaluation. Peers, undergraduates and faculty members provide support and guidance, and professional judges critique the final solution presentations.
Students who participate gain valuable experience in research, teamwork and leadership. Everyone who completes The Challenge 2021 receives a certificate from the TriU partnership, documenting their 20+ hours of investigation. All final solution presentations are posted online and prizes are awarded for best solution, most innovative solution and best engineering notebook.
